ALERT: TGM makes a lot pf sense! :-)

I played golf off and on for some 12 years before someone hinted on TGM. Its been a process of reading the book, reading the forums and taking lessons from AI's.

TGM (meaning the book, the forums and the AI's) has brought I am getting to a point of having a pretty good idea about how to make a good swing.

What simply amazes me is how easy it is to spot a decent golfer and/or a hack.

I played the club championship last week. Many new faces, but I felt I could almost tell the handicap of a person just bu seeing a practice swing. I managed to make the 36 hole cut, so I got to play with a few of the better players. It was just amazing to use TGM fundamentals to spot flaws.

The best ones
Only saw two of these, HCP 0-4. Their did not show particular flaws (that I could determine) other than distance control in putting and shortgame.
- Flying wedges (especially right forearm) on the spot
- Very good extensor action
- Not a bit if throwaway

The Steady Eddies
This group were decent golfers (HCP 4-6). Thay played rather well but had occasional disasters.
- Flying wedges (especially right forearm) on the spot
- 2 of them were definetely hitters
- Slightly less extensor action
- Shoulder Turn Takeaway

The Random Result Swings
This group were HCP 10+ golfers.
- No flying wedgers
- No right forearm tracing
- Lack of extensor action

I just find it amazing that relatively simple concepts as flying wedges, RFP, STT, forearm tracing, extensor action are known to such a small group of the golfers. I can swear not a single one of the golfers knows about these concepts. I am sure not even the best golfers I played with would know what I was talking about if I said: "I like how you setup wit your right forearm on plane".

So thanks againg and again to Homer, forum members and AI's for making sense of the golf swing. It is just amazing that so few know what they should be taught on their first golf lesson. Knowing TGM basics makes the game VERY much more enjoyable.

i totally agree with you tgm just makes my swing very repeatable..i have not had the pleasure of taking a lesson from an AI but from what i've read and learned from this website i've been able to transform my swing into a solid repeatable package ..i'm looking forward to the oct workshop in southern california to further enhance my knowledge and understanding of The Greatest Method...just a side note.. i do all my practice with my impact bag but when i show up at my course i loosen up ,putt and play no range

Congrats on your progress, sdsurfmore. In my case my own swing is better, but still not where I want to. But I understand what's going on which is huge. What amazed me was that it has suddenly become much easy to spot a players game standard. Not only to be able to tell that a player is good or bad, but listing a number of reasons why he is good, average or a hack. I was never able to do that before.

Guess I need to move. The apartment with wooden floors and slightly too low ceiling just does not allow for indoor practice. Need to triple my practice time - at least - and the only way I can see that happening is to do more at home.

Moving day. That's what it is. And once again the Yellow Book contributes to increased revenues for real estate brokers.
