Position of clubface at top
When I'm swinging with what I believe to be a hitting procedure, my clubface appears to be what would be described in conventional terms as quite shut or hooded at the top. In other words, when I simply bend back my right wrist and pick up the club with my right forarm, my clubface does not rotate to a position that places it parallel to the target line, but rather keeps the face kind of pointing at the ball.
Is this OK when hitting? If not, what am I missing here? Thanks. Jazzy |
It is MUCH more compatable with Hitting then it is with swinging.
Look at it this way: Hitting is DRIVING a square-ish clubface through impact. Swinging is FLAILing an OPEN clubface to swuare and then closed through impact. |

I would wager that it's simply an impact problem. I've found no disadvantage in distance. In fact, when I was a switter, I was much shorter. Now that I'm purely hitting, I've found infinite power with a much shorter motion. I now stop at top.

I have my clubface parallel with the incline plane at the top, but at impact, sometimes my shots go to the right with good impact on the clubface and I can feel that the clubface is slightly open. Someone told me:
1. closed face at the top, which I disagree? 2. coming down should have more arc on the left hand, or using #2 more rotation. This seems reasonable since the left hand control the clubface. Is this correct? |
There's another option that you may not have considered...your golf clubs may be too flat. Have they been fitted to you with the proper length and lie angle?
I'm not discounting the effect that an improper hinge action could produce, but I'd like to consider all posibilities, too. |
