Participated in the annual Club Championship again this year. For some reason I managed to comfortably make the cut last year.
This year the field was smaller and the championship mgmt started talking about not having a cut at all.
Enter Metallion.
In a lengthy letter I demanded a cut do be established, for the following reasons:
If I have not played good enough, I do not want to play Sunday
I do not want to play Sunday with others not having played well enough to contend
Probably some who have not played well will not want to play Sunday, but I do not think that they can leave the tournament unless they are injured
Those who have no real chance of winning (such as undersigned) will still have the CUT to play for.
...and so on.
They listened and set the cut to top-whatever and ties.
It turned out I was one shot from making the (54-hole) cut. Even though my 54-hole score was 9 shots better than last year.
I told the mgmt that I gof a chuckle & exactly what I deserved. They agreed.
I played 54 holes. All those small misstakes I could have easily avoided any day. I only needed one shot less.
Imagine how frustrating in one sense.
Still I think promoring that there should be a cut was the right thing to do.
I'll make it next year. And I'll contend!
