Proud Dad
My fifteen year old daughter is a basketball player who prior to this year had played golf with me on occasion, nine holes. No pushing on my part, only taught her how to hold the club. She decided to play on her high school golf team after she was asked to be on the team. I suggested she work on her game instead with our friend Kevin Carter, but she got on the team anyways. Her first practice round was monday and she shot a 55 for nine. Her first match was yesterday on the same course and she shot a 48 to finish with the third best score. Her coach asked me what I taught her as she hits her nine iron as far as other girls 5 irons. I told him I showed her the grip and told her to hit down, that was it. I asked her how she dropped 7 shots in three days playing in 45 degree weather. She said she felt she was lifting up and tried to keep her shoulders down thru the swing. Figured out how to drive the right shoulder down on plane all by herself. Mighty proud, thanks for letting me brag.

dodger,
that is a most heartwarming story. I am thrilled for your daughter and just as thrilled for you.
Any chance she would consider transferring schools and playing for my boys' team? I have a few of them getting dirty, but way too many still are trying to pry the little orb off the big orb.
Congratulations, dodger. If you come out to EG for one of her meets, look over at the range and look for the old guy screaming at the male adolescents, "Down!! Get dirty!!"

Thanks Jerry, she has a great swing. Hands nice and high on the backswing with incredible extensor action. As soon as her hands become educated I foresee a lot of improvement. She is set on the WNBA, but at least she can play a decent round of golf in the offseason.
