Stay with
Mizuno. They make a great forged club, and you know them. Given your single-digit handicap, I would strongly suggest the MP-53s beginning with the 4-iron (and possibly the 3-iron depending on your launch trajectories). This is a great club that you could take all the way to the pitching wedge.

However, you might want to consider a "split" set. If so, then consider the MP-68s beginning with the 7-iron.

Obviously, custom fitting is a must. Here are some of the basic factors:

As always, the shaft is a major consideration, just as important (if not more so) than the head. To find the one(s) that are right for you, I recommend you make three swings with the Mizuno
Shaft Optimizer. Last time I looked, it selected from a database of more than 400 shafts based on five different factors. In my experience, the results (including "soft step" recommendations) have been on the money.

Lastly, don't forget the grip, not just its composition, but also its size. If you wear a medium-large glove, consider a mid-size grip. It's a bit larger than Standard, and thus, as
Homer Kelley would say, ". . . easier to hold onto".
Don't be intimidated by all this. When done by a competent professional, the fitting process is a breeze. And, Mizuno USA is prepared to "get'er done": Even custom orders ship from Atlanta within three days or less.
